Uno... Dos... Tres... Ahora!

Are you ready for this? No better time than the present, right? Achtung, Baby! These are some damn good records I'm listing here and, man oh man, am I having some second thoughts about this! Oh, well. Here goes...

U2 are a rock band from Dublin, Ireland. The group consists of Bono (vocals and guitar), The Edge (guitar, keyboards, and vocals), Adam Clayton (bass guitar), and Larry Mullen, Jr. (drums and percussion). The band formed at Mount Temple secondary school in 1976 when the members were teenagers with limited musical proficiency. Within four years, they signed to Island Records and released their debut album Boy. By the mid-1980s, they had become a top international act. They were more successful as a live act than they were at selling records, until their 1987 album The Joshua Tree, which, according to Rolling Stone, elevated the band's stature "from heroes to superstars".

Their 1991 album Achtung Baby and the accompanying Zoo TV Tour were a musical and thematic reinvention for the band. Reacting to their own sense of musical stagnation and a late-1980s critical backlash, U2 incorporated dance music and alternative rock influences into their sound and performances, abandoning their earnest image for a more ironic, self-deprecating tone. Similar experimentation continued for the remainder of the 1990s. Since 2000, U2 have pursued a more conventional sound, while maintaining influences from their previous musical explorations.

U2 have released 12 studio albums and are among the most critically and commercially successful groups in popular music. They have won 22 Grammy Awards, more than any other band, and they have sold more than 150 million records. In 2005, the band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility. Rolling Stone magazine ranked U2 at number 22 in its list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time". Throughout their career, as a band and as individuals, they have campaigned for human rights and philanthropic causes, including Amnesty International, the ONE/DATA campaigns, Product Red, and The Edge's Music Rising.

Retirement? No way! Don't Forget These Icons!

These old-timers released some pretty good music throughout the '90s and '00s, too! And I was lucky enough to be collecting vinyl during this time-period. So, I managed to get my hands on some of these rare and highly regarded recordings on the format they were meant to be heard on... VINYL!

Now here they are, offered to you, to enjoy and cherish as I did. I will start with just of few in this catagory and will list many more of these aging artists that have continued to record very soon.

But for now, I have listed some Bob Dylan, Warren Zevon and Page & Plant to get things started.

Modest Mouse, A Modest Few

I didn't get into MM until The Moon & Antartica and even then the infatuation was over before it began really. Can't say why. I moved on to other bands, other styles, I guess.  Which explains why my Modest Mouse collection is so...well, modest. Anyway, the two I did purchase happen to be the bands best two albums, if you're asking me. And they're pretty hard to find, too!

Modest Mouse is an American indie rock band formed in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington by singer/lyricist/guitarist Isaac Brock, drummer Jeremiah Green, and bassist Eric Judy. They are based in Portland, Oregon. Since their 1996 debut album, This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About, their lineup has centered around Brock, Green and Judy. Guitarist Johnny Marr (formerly of The Smiths) joined the band in May 2006, along with percussionist Joe Plummer (formerly of the Black Heart Procession) and multi-instrumentalist Tom Peloso, to work on the album We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. Guitarist Jim Fairchild joined the band in February 2009.

The band has accrued significant mainstream success since being signed to Sony's Epic Records in 2000 and have been one of the leading bands in the popularization of indie rock, beginning with The Moon & Antarctica and Good News for People Who Love Bad News, which have been certified gold and platinum by the RIAA respectively. They have gone on to sell over three million records since. Elements of Modest Mouse's early sound have been likened to or inspired by that of Pixies and numerous other alternative rock and space rock bands. Their name is derived from a passage from the Virginia Woolf story "The Mark on the Wall" which reads, "I wish I could hit upon a pleasant track of thought, a track indirectly reflecting credit upon myself, for those are the pleasantest thoughts, and very frequent even in the minds of modest, mouse-coloured people, who believe genuinely that they dislike to hear their own praises."

Death Cab for You!

Offering up a couple from Death Cab: Something About Airplanes and Transatlanticism. The latter being their finest effort to date, I believe. Both are second issues released by Sonic Boom Records on 180g Audiophile Vinyl. As with most of my listings, these are hard to find limited pressings.

Death Cab for Cutie is an American indie rock band formed in Bellingham, Washington in 1997. The band consists of Ben Gibbard (vocals, guitar), Chris Walla (guitar, production), Nick Harmer (bass) and Jason McGerr (drums). Gibbard took the band name from the title of the song written by Neil Innes and Vivian Stanshall and performed by their group, the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, in The Beatles' 1967 film, Magical Mystery Tour.

Gibbard's first album, You Can Play These Songs with Chords, was released as a demo, leading to a record deal with Barsuk Records. It was at this time that Gibbard decided to expand the project into a complete band, and recruited band members to join. The band has released six studio albums, five EPs, and one demo to date. Their most recent album, Narrow Stairs, was released in May 2008.

Kings of Leon, The Good Stuff

So, I was on the bandwagon from the start with these guys. I definitely like the early stuff better than the new Arena Rock style they're outputting now. Either way, their first two studio albums are certainly hard to find, each unique in their own way; Youth and Young Manhood was made in Europe and released in the States as a very limited pressing double 10" import and Aha Shake Heartbreak as a limited run white vinyl pressing made in the good ol' US of A. I've got them both. And I will sell them to you if you're the highest bidder!

Kings of Leon is an American rock band that formed in Franklin, Tennessee, United States in 1999, consisting of brothers Anthony Caleb Followill (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Ivan Nathan Followill (drums, percussion, backing vocals) and Michael Jared Followill (bass, backing vocals), with their cousin Cameron Matthew Followill (lead guitar, backing vocals). Each member of the family group is known by his middle name (second given name) as opposed to his first given name.

The band's early music was an upbeat blend of southern rock and blues influences but the band has gradually expanded their sound to include a variety of genres and a more alternative rock or arena rock sound. Kings of Leon achieved initial success in the United Kingdom with nine Top 40 singles, two BRIT Awards in 2008, and all three of the band's albums at the time peaking in the top five of the UK Albums Chart. Their third album Because of the Times also reached the #1 spot. After the release of Only by the Night in September 2008 they finally achieved chart success in their native United States. The singles "Sex on Fire", "Use Somebody" and "Notion" all peaked at #1 on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks. The album itself was their first ever platinum-selling album in the United States. It was the best selling album of 2008 in Australia, being certified nine-times Platinum.

Serving Up Some EELS, They're a delicacy, you know.

POW! This one hurts. My beloved EELS. Well, what can I say? Truly one of my favorite bands over the past 15 years or so. E and the band, they just keep getting better year after year. I will be offering up the first four LPs I purchased, Electro-shock Blues, Daisies of the Galaxy, Souljacker, and Shottenanny! Sadly, I never did get a copy of Beautiful Freak. Even though I was a fan of EELS when it came out, I chose to purchase the CD instead. Urgh!!! And I'm not quite ready to part with my Blinking Lights... box set yet (70/2500 signed by E himself!).

Eels (often typeset as eels or EELS) is an American rock band formed by singer/songwriter Mark Oliver Everett, better known as E. Other members rotate frequently, both in the studio and on stage. Eels appear on several film soundtracks, including American Beauty, Holes, The Anniversary Party, Road Trip, Knocked Up, Yes Man, The End of Violence, Hellboy II, Hot Fuzz, and the first three Shrek movies.

Pearl Jam! That's Right, You Heard Me!

I know, I know, call me crazy! Probably THE most beloved discography in my entire collection. I bought all of these brand new back when they were released, hardly ever played them, they are all 100% complete and immaculate! Some of these are sooo rare. But you all know that already.  This one's gonna hurt a little but they gotta go! It'll probably take me a few days to get them all listed but have patience, they'll be up before you can say "99 CENTS"!

Pearl Jam is a band from Seattle.... I think you know the rest.

Let's see how long it takes Sony to shut down all of my videos.

Stone Temple Pilots on VINYL!

They only released two of their albums on vinyl in the U.S. and I've got them both available here! They just so happen to be two of their best, too!

Stone Temple Pilots, often abbreviated to STP, are an American rock band that consists of Scott Weiland (lead vocals), brothers Robert DeLeo (bass guitar, vocals) and Dean DeLeo (guitar), and Eric Kretz (drums, percussion).

The band found immediate success with the release of their debut album Core in 1992, which is certified 8× platinum by the RIAA. STP went on to become one of the most commercially successful rock bands of the 1990s, selling nearly 40 million records worldwide, including 17.5 million units in the United States. The band has had 16 top ten singles on the Billboard rock charts, seven of which peaked at #1, and one #1 album for Purple in 1994. That same year, the band won a Grammy for "Best Hard Rock Performance" for the song "Plush" from the album Core. Stone Temple Pilots were also ranked #40 on VH1's The 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.

Weiland's continual drug offenses caused multiple concert cancellations and band separations. These setbacks resulted in the creation of various alternate bands by each of the band members (see The Magnificent Bastards, Talk Show, Army of Anyone, Velvet Revolver) and two solo albums by Weiland. Kretz would go on to launch Bomb Shelter Studios in Los Angeles. The band's separation in 2003 lasted five years. Stone Temple Pilots reunited in April 2008 with a successful 71-date tour and the band's eponymous sixth studio album was released on May 25, 2010.

Batter Up! Foo Fighters at the Plate!

OK, so I'm throwing out the whole idea of listing in alphabetical order. I've realized it doesn't make sense to do it that way - I'm thinking now that I'll list common genres/styles and similar artists and I'm going to start with 90's alternative rock. First band to be listed in this vein will be the Foo Fighters. I've already made a couple of deals for some of my Foo items so I'm letting go of what I have left. All of these releases are original first pressings, some extremely rare. All are in near mint condition and include any extras they were packaged with.

Foo Fighters is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1995. Drummer Dave Grohl formed the group as a one-man project after the dissolution of his previous band, Nirvana, in 1994. Prior to the release of the band's eponymous debut album in 1995, Grohl drafted Nate Mendel as bassist, William Goldsmith as drummer, and Pat Smear as guitarist to complete the group. The band was small, young, and began with performances in Portland, Oregon before gaining popularity. Goldsmith left during the recording of the group's second album, The Colour and the Shape (1997), and Smear's departure followed soon afterward. They were replaced by Taylor Hawkins and Franz Stahl, respectively, although Stahl left prior to the recording of the group's third album, There Is Nothing Left to Lose (1999).

Chris Shiflett joined as the band's third guitarist after the completion of There Is Nothing Left to Lose. The band released its fourth album, One by One, in 2002. The group followed that release with the two-disc In Your Honor (2005), which was split between acoustic songs and harder-rocking material. Foo Fighters released its sixth album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, in 2007. Over the course of the band's existence, three of its albums have won Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album, and all six have been nominated for Grammys.

Beck LPs Hitting eBay!

Moving right along to the B's we have Mr. Beck Hanson. As will be the case from here on out, I'll showcase the LPs here and provide the links to the auctions on eBay. All of my Beck LPs are the original releases, some extremely rare. All are in near mint condition and include all of the extra goodies that were originally packaged with the albums. Beck Hansen is an United States musician, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist known by the stage name Beck. With a pop art collage of musical styles, oblique and ironic lyrics, and postmodern arrangements incorporating samples, drum machines, live instrumentation and sound effects, Beck has been hailed by critics and the public throughout his musical career as being amongst the most creative and idiosyncratic musicians of 1990s and 2000s alternative rock. He rose to underground popularity with his early works, which combined social criticism (as in "MTV Makes Me Want to Smoke Crack" and "Deep Fried Love") with musical and lyrical experimentation. He first earned wider public attention for his breakthrough single "Loser", a 1994 hit. Beck has released 8 major label albums. Two of Beck's most popular and acclaimed recordings were Odelay and Sea Change. Odelay was awarded Album of the Year by American magazine Rolling Stone and by UK publications NME and Mojo. Odelay also received a Grammy nomination for Best Album. To date, Beck has sold 7 million copies in the United States, and around 15 million worldwide. Similar Artists: Broken Bells, Frank Black, Camper Van Beethoven, The White Stripes, Gorillaz, Pulp, Simple Kid, Guided by Voices, The Breeders, Butter 08, Mercury Rev, N.E.R.D., East River Pipe, Folk Implosion, Dub Narcotic Sound System, Dr. Octagon, Smog, Hayden, Cripples, Liz Phair, Gnarls Barkley

Ryan Adams Titles Up For Auction!

Well, since I'm starting off alphabetically, Ryan Adams ends up being the first to hit the auction block. I'll be highlighting each of his LPs here and listing them on eBay over the next 24 hours. All of my Ryan Adams LPs are the original releases, some extremely rare. Did I mention none are re-issues. Every one of these was purchased by me new and is in pristine condition. And as is if you didn't know already... Ryan Adams is an American singer-songwriter who dropped out of high school in order to perform with local punk bands. In spite of his punk beginnings, he eventually founded Whiskeytown and settled on alt-country as his genre of choice. The band released two acclaimed albums, Faithless Street (1995) and Stranger's Almanac (1997) before splitting in 1999. Pneumonia was released in 2001, after the band had already split. His solo debut was Heartbreaker (2000) but, in spite of its considerable critical acclaim, sales were slow. He shifted slightly from his alt-country style for his next release Gold (2001) and earned good sales and two Grammy Award nominations. Though he released Demolition in 2002 it failed to achieve the same commercial success of its predecessor. His prolific writing meant that the songs were stacking up and he had enough material to release Rock N Roll and the double EP collection Love Is Hell pt.1 and Love Is Hell pt. 2 in 2003. In 2005 he released three albums, the lachrymose double disc Cold Roses and Jacksonville City Nights (both recorded as Ryan Adams and the Cardinals) and 29. He then released 2007's Easy Tiger which debuted at No.7 on the Billboard charts and featured in many other charts around the world. Though billed as a solo effort it was recorded with the Cardinals who share songwriting credits. His latest effort, Cardinology, was released in October 2008. In a certain sense, Cardinology does play as a showcase for everything that Ryan Adams & the Cardinals can do: it's rooted in Deadsy country-rock but frequently strays into '80s alt-rock territory. These days Ryan Adams is all about carefully measured craft instead of big statements, a tradeoff that makes his albums more predictable but also more satisfying, as Cardinology quietly proves. Similar artists: AA Bondy, Grand Drive, Justin Rutledge, Rhett Miller, Jeff Buckley, Wilco, Mark Curry, Ben Kweller, David Gray, Joe Henry, Richard Buckner, Joe Purdy, Gillian Welch, Mason Jennings, Kim Richey, Bell X1, Scott Miller, Victoria Williams, Emmylou Harris, Bruce Springsteen, Ian Matthews, Neko Case
