Release Info: 29 is Ryan Adams' eighth official album, and his third album released in 2005 (although the preceding two were credited to Ryan Adams and The Cardinals). The album was produced by Ethan Johns, who also produced Heartbreaker and Gold. Recorded without (and in fact, prior to) the country-rock sound of the Cardinals, this album's sonic and emotional predecessor is 2003's Love Is Hell. The album's cover art was drawn by Adams.

The album has sold 81,000 copies in the United States and 153,000 worldwide. In November 2009, the album was number 54 on a list of 'The 100 best pop albums of the Noughties' by The Times Music critics.

Jacksonville City Nights is the seventh studio album by American alternative country singer-songwriter Ryan Adams, released on September 27, 2005 on Lost Highway. The album is Adams' second with The Cardinals, and the second in a trilogy of albums released in a seven-month timespan during 2005. By 2007, the album had sold 100,000 copies in the United States and 158,000 worldwide. The album was recorded live in the studio, without overdubs. The title is a reference to Adams' hometown of Jacksonville, North Carolina, which has been referenced throughout his career.

Several limited American releases contained a DVD entitled September (which was originally intended to be the title of the album), which featured a 20 minute documentary about the band on the road and in the studio. Former bass player Catherine Popper is featured in the photograph on the album cover.

Release Info: Love Is Hell is the fifth studio album by alternative country artist Ryan Adams, released on May 4, 2004. The album was originally released as two EPs, Love Is Hell pt. 1 and Love Is Hell pt. 2, at the insistence of Lost Highway, who deemed that the album was not commercially viable. A full-length version of the album was released when the EPs proved to be more of a commercial success than anticipated.

"Wonderwall," a cover of a song originally by Oasis, was released as a single in the UK on June 28, 2004. A shorter version of "Anybody Wanna Take Me Home" originally appeared on Rock N Roll. However, the 'longer' version of the song on the Love Is Hell album does not fade-out/back-in as it does on Rock N Roll. Love Is Hell was released in Japan on June 27, 2007 with a bonus disc of tracks recorded during the same sessions as the album.

Adams describes the album as sounding "a lot like Heartbreaker, but better and more severe. It's complex and it's damaged," In a 2007 interview, Adams notes that he loves to play songs from the album live, and that the songs are "usually tunes that The Cardinals and myself get really excited about when they come up in the set." Love Is Hell features guest contributions from Marianne Faithfull (backing vocals on "English Girls Approximately") and Greg Leisz (guitar throughout), and the bonus tracks feature Fabrizio Moretti (drums on "Halloween") and Leona Naess (vocals on "Caterwaul").

Ryan Adams' version of "Wonderwall" can be downloaded for the video game Guitar Hero World Tour.

Release Info: Demolition is the third studio album by alt-country singer-songwriter Ryan Adams, released on September 24, 2002 on Lost Highway. The album comprises tracks from Adams' unreleased studio albums, The Suicide Handbook, The Pinkheart Sessions and 48 Hours. In 2009, Adams stated: "I don’t much care for this record. The rock songs are plodding and the quiet songs belonged to better records to make Gold as a compromise then to have to watch those records get broken up for Demolition was heartbreaking.

Release Info: Gold is the second studio album by Ryan Adams, released September 25, 2001. The album remains Adams' best-selling album, certifying gold in the UK and going on to sell 364,000 copies in the U.S. and 812,000 worldwide. Adams noted that "with Gold, I was trying to prove something to myself. I wanted to invent a modern classic."

Adams intended for the album to be a double album, but his record label, Lost Highway, condensed the album into a single disc to avoid paying Adams more money. According to Adams, the label "took the last five songs, made it a bonus disc and put it on the first hundred and fifty thousand copies. Fucking my fans over and making them pay extra for a record I wanted to be a double album. They counted that as one record." This bonus disc is known as Side Four; the disc's title reflects the fact that the bonus material makes up the fourth side of the double LP edition of the album.

The album includes "When the Stars Go Blue", which has been covered by artists such as The Corrs and Bono, Tyler Hilton, Bethany Joy Galeotti, and Tim McGraw. "New York, New York" became a notable MTV and VH-1 favorite following the September 11 attacks. "The Rescue Blues" was featured in the end credits of the 2001 film Behind Enemy Lines.

Adams' friend and former roommate Adam Duritz (lead singer of Counting Crows) lends background vocals to several tracks.

Adams received three Grammy Award nominations in 2002: Best Rock Album, Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for "New York, New York", and Best Male Country Vocal Performance for "Lovesick Blues".

Stephen King's 2006 book Lisey's Story includes part of the lyrics to "When the Stars Go Blue". Also, the song "The Rescue Blues" was featured in an episode of Scrubs (TV series).

Release Info: Heartbreaker is the debut studio album by alternative country musician Ryan Adams, released September 5, 2000. The album was recorded over fourteen days at Woodland Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. It was nominated for the 2001 Shortlist Music Prize. The album is said to be inspired by Adams's break-up with music-industry publicist Amy Lombardi.

According to Adams, the album's title originates from a poster of Mariah Carey: "My manager called and said, 'You have 15 seconds to name this record,' "My eyes focused on this poster of Mariah wearing a T-shirt that said HEARTBREAKER. I just shouted, 'Heartbreaker!'"

English DJ Mark Ronson remixed the song "AMY" for his 2007 album Version. The song "To Be Young (Is To Be Sad, Is To Be High)" is featured in the 2006 film "Accepted", the 2002 film "The Slaughter Rule", and the 2003 film Old School, a cover version of this song was also released in 2009 by David Rawlings on the Dave Rawlings Machine album "A Friend of a Friend." "Come Pick Me Up" is featured in the film Elizabethtown (which also featured two other Ryan Adams songs) and in a Series 2 episode of Skins. It was also named #285 on Pitchfork Media's "Top 500 songs of the 2000's.

Ryan Adams Titles Up For Auction!

Well, since I'm starting off alphabetically, Ryan Adams ends up being the first to hit the auction block. I'll be highlighting each of his LPs here and listing them on eBay over the next 24 hours. All of my Ryan Adams LPs are the original releases, some extremely rare. Did I mention none are re-issues. Every one of these was purchased by me new and is in pristine condition. And as is if you didn't know already... Ryan Adams is an American singer-songwriter who dropped out of high school in order to perform with local punk bands. In spite of his punk beginnings, he eventually founded Whiskeytown and settled on alt-country as his genre of choice. The band released two acclaimed albums, Faithless Street (1995) and Stranger's Almanac (1997) before splitting in 1999. Pneumonia was released in 2001, after the band had already split. His solo debut was Heartbreaker (2000) but, in spite of its considerable critical acclaim, sales were slow. He shifted slightly from his alt-country style for his next release Gold (2001) and earned good sales and two Grammy Award nominations. Though he released Demolition in 2002 it failed to achieve the same commercial success of its predecessor. His prolific writing meant that the songs were stacking up and he had enough material to release Rock N Roll and the double EP collection Love Is Hell pt.1 and Love Is Hell pt. 2 in 2003. In 2005 he released three albums, the lachrymose double disc Cold Roses and Jacksonville City Nights (both recorded as Ryan Adams and the Cardinals) and 29. He then released 2007's Easy Tiger which debuted at No.7 on the Billboard charts and featured in many other charts around the world. Though billed as a solo effort it was recorded with the Cardinals who share songwriting credits. His latest effort, Cardinology, was released in October 2008. In a certain sense, Cardinology does play as a showcase for everything that Ryan Adams & the Cardinals can do: it's rooted in Deadsy country-rock but frequently strays into '80s alt-rock territory. These days Ryan Adams is all about carefully measured craft instead of big statements, a tradeoff that makes his albums more predictable but also more satisfying, as Cardinology quietly proves.
